Phonte interview with VLADTV where he says that Drake is a dope emcee. If you remember back in the day, Drake and Phonte use to make music together, one of their songs together is “Think Good Thoughts”. Phonte says if the opportunity comes along he would definitely link up with Drake for a collaboration. Peep the video after the jump.
Phonte spoke with The Source in August of Drake cutting him out of a promised guest verse on a record with 9th Wonder. Drake opens up in the most recent interview at Village Voice, taking 100% of the blame for dropping the ball on the collaboration. He explains that he was working on his Take Care album which recently leaked, and he basically got side tracked with other things.
“With me and [Phonte], I kinda dropped the ball on a feature he needed me to do, just being 100% honest,” he explained. “I really wanted to do a record with him, and we actually did do a record for my album, and then something happened with the producer and the beat, and it started getting funny so I had to scrap the record. And then he was like, ‘Well, can you do this feature for me,’ and at the time I was trying to find my sound and trying to figure out what this album was going to be about, and I kind of let it slip through the cracks. That was my fault, and I do apologize to Phonte for that. But I still want to make it happen; I talked to 9th Wonder about trying to make it happen, we’ll get it eventually. He knows he’s one of the biggest influences on my career.”

“Angela Yee Interview” (Drake mentions Tanya Morgan)
Drake says, “Phonte was originally on it, then I told him Von would kill this beat, so we had Von spit on it aswell.” Too bad this never came out. I love this song. I posted the interview where he name drops Tanya Morgan to be on ‘Comeback Season’ for everyone that doesn’t believe these collabos were real. ‘My New’ was actually supposed to be an album joint pre-weezy. By the way, Tha Bizness just blogged their collabo and leaked it themselves…
