During a recent 6-Cents concert at Ryerson University in Toronto the students had a welcome surprise when Drake took the stage and performed a special set with a performance just for them. Those in attendance at the concert each paid six cents to get in and see DJ Esco perform, but they were not disappointed when Drake showed up and performed several songs for them. The Toronto rapper performed Summer Sixteen, Pop Style, One Dance, Back to Back, Jumpman, Know Yourself, and Energy. That is a lot of Drake for six cents, especially when tickets for Drake’s tour later this summer are going for hundreds of dollars each.
This is not the first special performance that Drake has performed at Ryerson University in Toronto either. Last year the Toronto rapper was a special guest performer for Future during a Student Union Concert event. During the special performance Drake just gave he told the crowd “Hey Ryerson, any time they call my phone and say I can come perform for you, I’m touching this stage right here.” A video of some of the performance can be found below.
The idea was in the air, but it was over before it even happened. Recently ABC’s “Good Morning America” wanted to include Drake in their summer show series at Central Park in New York, but they decided not to book Drizzy Drake for the July 16th free concert due to the NYPD. They told the city Parks Department that the security was night tight enough for that to happen, and advised not to.
The concert was going to be part of ABC’s “Good Morning America” summer concert series, which has already featured megastars Miley Cyrus, the Jonas Brothers and Alicia Keys.
This will be the second free concert that Drake was suppose to perform at. Unfortunately, I see a trend of free concerts not including Drake until they step up the personnel. With that said, NYPD needs to tighten up.
