Summer Sixteen Debut by Drake is #1 on the Chart for the Hot R&B and Hip Hop Songs

The latest Hot R&B/Hip Hop Songs chart which is dated February 20, 2016 shows Drake taking the number one spot with his debut of the track Summer Sixteen. The chart will be published on the Billboard websites on February 9, 2016, and this is the second week in a row for Drizzy. The previous week also saw Drake at #1 for his spot on the song Work with Rihanna, which fell to the number 2 spot for the current week. This makes Drake the third artist ever to have a song debut at the top spot on the chart as soon as the song was listed. This feat has only been accomplished by the Notorious B.I.G. And Rihanna in the past so Drizzy is in good company. To date there have only been 13 songs which have had a number one debut on the chart, which began in October of 1958.

Rihanna had her first chart topping debut in 2013 when she collaborated with Eminem on the track The Monster. The only musical act to earn two debut spots on the chart was Notorious B.I.G. In 1995 Notorious had the first track to ever debut at number one with the hit One More Chance, and in 1997 just weeks after B.I.G. died his song Hypnotize also had a chart debut which started at the top.

The week ending on February 4, 2016 saw approximately 215,000 digital downloads for Summer Sixteen, and the song also had more than 3.6 million audience impressions. The song was streamed more than 2.7 million times and it also had a January 30, 2016 premiere on OVO Sound Radio. Drake revealed during the show that the Views From the 6 album would be released sometime in April of this year.
