The relationship between Drizzy and Torey Lanez is strange to say the least, and things just got more interesting since Drake’s response to The New Toronto mixtape that Torey released late in 2015. In the single Summer Sixteen Drake fired some shots and dropped some shade towards Lanez with the beginning of verse two in the track which says “All you boys in the new Toronto want to be me a little.” Torey responded in an interview with DJ Drama’s Shade 45 show that was recently released online. At first Lanez seems to talk around the question about Drake, going so far as to say that he was not sure why Drizzy would diss him of all people, if it was actually even intended as a diss at all by Drake. Torey says that the two rappers do not even know each other in that way.

When the interview hits close to the 11:15 mark Torey finally answers the Drake diss question though, and stated that Drizzy must feel threatened. Lanez continued by saying “I’m just a young kid. Me personally, I don’t think I’m even hot enough to be getting dissed. But hey, at the end of the day he must look at me as a threat. The music is appealing and I don’t know why he did it, but more blessings to him.” Torey also pointed out that he looks up to the Toronto rapper. During the interview Lanez also discusses how he feels when people refer to Toronto as The Six, how he has started the latest trend of R&B with a thuggy twist, and other topics.

This bugs me… I was feeling Torey’s music for the past six months or so on his mix tapes, but this new ego thing doesn’t seem cool to me. Drake is definitely not threatened by Torey Lanez. That’s ridiculous and laughable. If anything, he’s probably more irritated by someone imitating his music to the point of naming songs “The Mission” or “The This” or “The That” in the same way that Drake names his songs. I don’t know what’s really going down, but I used to like Torey in interviews, but if he sat on a balcony that was obviously unstable, f’d up the building and the ppl below it when his dumb ass broke off the balcony, and may or may not have asked a Texas crowd to “f a club up,” I’m just not feeling his attitude. You’re not a young kid, Torey. You’re a grown man. Act like it.
